MEDFORD, Ore. — Students and teachers are feeling the effects of financial struggle in Head Start.
Local Head Start supporters are making the impact of sequestration cuts on Medford kids more visual. 79 empty chairs sat on display to show the exact number of local children who will be left out and the people being laid off.
Organizers say it’s part of a nationwide movement. Local Head Start leaders want these demonstrations to trigger action in the nation’s capital.
“The sequestration is hurting young children that children would’ve had an opportunity to get a strong foundation in life, both in terms of education and socialization and in health and in nutrition won’t be getting that,” said Executive Director Alan Berlin
